Houston House Hotel Wedding- The Sweetest Moments

Documentary wedding photography is about moments like the moment below from Lynne and Peter’s Houston House Hotel Wedding. Completely natural and magical. Peter described this moment to me, he said it felt like someone was grabbing him from behind and pulling him up. He felt overwhelmed and he just wanted to go back on the roller coaster and do it again and again.

Lynne and Peter got married at Houston House Hotel, near Livingstone and they are just so in love. Every moment of their wedding day was eclipsed by how much they love each other. When they see each other their faces light up and when Peter saw Lynne walking down the aisle with his mum the emotion was written all over his face. Here are the highlights from their day.

As you arrive at Houston House there is a beautiful long driveway which winds up to the 16th century Tower House. I first visited the venue when Lynne and Peter were in the early stages of their planning. We met to look over some albums and get to know each other. At that first meeting I think I fell in love with Lynne and Peter’s relationship. They were so fun, genuine and caught up in each other. We had so many laughs which continued when I met them for their couple shoot and throughout their wedding day. Their couple shoot was in St. Andrews, we spent a morning exploring the town which is a special place for them due to their joint love of golf.

On Their Wedding Day

When it came to their wedding day I arrived to find Lynne preparing her dress which included placing a special photograph of her dad in a secret heart shaped pocket, the fabric had been taken from her dad’s Rangers shirt. When I arrived her hair was already up, Lynne is a hairdresser so she had also put her own hair up and was sorting everyone else’s hair too.

The Ceremony

Every time they looked at each other during the ceremony they would smile or laugh and Peter’s pride in marrying Lynne was so evident.

Winter Wedding

2018 was one of the craziest years for weather the UK has seen for decades and Lynne and Peter were married in March which was the month the ‘Beast from the East’ and the ‘Beast from the East 2’ hit the UK and covered the land with an overwhelming amount on snow. Somehow this wedding missed the crazy storm and nestled in the weekend in between the two March storms. Lynne and Peter had originally planned to wed in January so Lynne was prepared for a cold day with a snug cloak which at least one guest tried on so they could quote some words from Game of Thrones.

Bride and Groom Photo shoot

Houston House Hotel has 20 acres of grounds and we explored a small area of them during a relaxed couple shoot. It was the perfect time for them to take a breather from the wedding party, talk about their day and take everything in. They also got to walk around the grounds and pretend to be the lord and lady of the house.
